A Very Special Place for Your Special Event

The Webb-Deane-Stevens Museum is the caretaker of another remarkable building besides its houses: the nineteenth-century Webb Barn, located at the rear of the property among a variety of shrubs and ornamental and fruit trees.  Between the Webb House and the Barn is the Colonial Revival Garden, with its profusion of flowers and graceful arbors that lead to sweeping lawns and a large stone patio.

The Webb Barn has gone through a series of renovations starting in the 1930s and most recently in the mid-1990s.  Each time the Colonial Dames have been careful to protect and enhance the original rustic ambiance of the structure while making its mechanical systems more up-to-date.

From May to October the Webb Barn is the setting for numerous weddings, anniversary parties, reunions, concerts, seminars, and corporate events, in addition to serving as the Colonial Damesí meeting house.  Some of these parties include Museum tours while others have volleyball, croquet, and other games.  Affairs run the full gamut from super-elegant to down-home barbecues.  Many weddings are one-stop events with the ceremony performed on the grounds, pictures in the garden, and a catered meal in the Barn.  Another factor that makes the Webb Barn so special for parties is that a single event is held daily, allowing each group to have their ìown day.î

Surprisingly the Webb Barn is often a ìfamilyî gathering place.  We have had many siblings in the same family hold their weddings at the Webb Barn, sometimes spanning ten or more years between events.  A couple who were originally married in the Webb Barn also held a fiftieth wedding anniversary there!  Obviously, no one forgets ìtheir dayî at the Webb Barn, and it will continue to be the source of many happy memories for years to come.

This quaint barn, available May through October, lends itself to private and corporate events and wedding receptions. There is room for 135 people in the building for a sit-down dinner; this number can be expanded by adding tents.  Click here to view our photo album of past events.

The Barn is shown by appointment only.  To make an appointment or receive more information, call the Museum at 860-529-0612, or email us.
