THROUGH APRIL 2006: The Museum resumes its winter schedule. Open Saturdays & Sundays, 10:00 am-4:00 pm, last tour begins at 3:00 pm. Buttolph-Williams House closed. Admission charged.

January 2006

JANUARY 1: The Museum is OPEN on the New Year's holiday.

JANUARY 22: "Connoisseur's Selection with Tom & Alice Kugelman": Join the guest curators of the Connecticut Historical Society Museum's "Chapin and His Contemporaries" exhibit for a rare opportunity to examine some of the finest examples of 18th century furniture in the Museum's collection. Tour the Museum houses to see furniture in context, then study selected pieces more closely. Wind down with discussion and refreshments. 1:00-4:00 p.m. $75 for Friends, $85 non-members. JANUARY 16: The Museum will be OPEN for special thematic tours examining Africans and African Americans in Wethersfield in observance of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. Regular hours and admission, FREE to Friends.

February 2006

FEBRUARY 5: "Connoisseur's Selection: 18th and 19th Century Ceramics": Join Curator Donna Baron for a hands-on examination of beautiful examples from the Museum's ceramics collection. Finish with discussion and refreshments. 1:00-2:30 p.m. $10 Friends, $12 non-members. Proceeds to benefit collections care. FEBRUARY 23 & 23: " School Vacation Week Programs": Oh no, they're home all week! When the kids run out of things to do at home, bring them to the Webb-Deane-Stevens Museum for some mid-winter fun. Programs to be announced. Gr. K-3 10:00-11:30 a.m., gr. 4-6 1:00-2:30 p.m. $5 per child per program. Advanced reservations only; call 860-529-0612 or email for information and reservations.

March 2006

MARCH 3, 10, & 17: "Tots & Moms": Fun with history for our littlest learners. Children aged 18 months to 3 years and their adult caregivers can enjoy a series of Friday-morning outings. While the grownups enjoy gourment coffee and snacks, the little ones can enjoy story time and hands-on learning. All children must be accompanied by an adult. $25 for three sessions or $10 per session. Advanced reservations required; call 860-529-0612 or email for information and reservations.

April 2006

APRIL 8 & 29: "Make a Hypertufa Garden Trough": Get down and dirty as you mix a lightweight concrete called hypertufa and use it to mold your own trough garden on 4/8/06. When it's cured, fill your new trough with a mix of alpine perennials on 4/29/06. 10:00 a.m.-12:00 noon. $40 Friends, $50 non-members. Advanced reservations only. APRIL 22-23: "Tags & Treasures": The Connecticut Colonial Dames biennial fundraiser offers treasures of all kinds for the bargain hunter.

May 2006

MAY 1: Museum resumes its summer schedule. Open daily except Tuesday, 10:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m., with tours every hour on the hour. Last tour begins at 3:00 p.m. Buttolph-Williams House reopens.

MAY 12-13: "Rochambeau & Revolutionary Connecticut: A Multi-Disciplinary Symposium": The Webb-Deane-Stevens Museum, Central Connecticut State University, Connecticut Humanities Council, and Connecticut Commission on Culture & Tourism are co-sponsoring a two-day symposium examining the legacy of Franco-American relations and Connecticut's role in the Revolutionary War. MAY 13: "Make a Mother's Day Planter": Children are invited to get their hands dirty as they assemble an annual container garden just for Mom. 9:30-11:00 a.m., 1:00-2:30 p.m. $10 per planter. Advanced reservations required. Please call 860-529-0612 or email for information and reservations.

MAY 20-21: "Wethersfield Celebrates Washington & Rochambeau": The Town of Wethersfield will commemorate the 225th anniversary of George Washington's pivotal conference with the commander of the French expeditionary forces that led to the British defeat at Yorktown. Reenactors, lectures, and more.

JUNE 17: "Capture Connecticut's Heritage": Attention area artists! The National Society of The Colonial Dames of America in the State of Connecticut is celebrating Connecticut's rich cultural heritage in a special one-day exhibition of original artwork and collage. We invite you to capture any historic Connecticut scene, unspoiled landscape, building, monument, or interior, and bring your artwork to the Keeney Memorial Cultural Center, 200 Main St. Wethersfield, for exhibition and possible sale. Artists will set their own price and retain 60% of the sale or silent auction price; 40% will be a donation to the Webb-Deane-Stevens Museum. To participate, call 860-529-0612 or email for a registration form. Alternatively, you may click this link to access the registration form and print it. Registration fee is $20 for two works of art. Participants may bring their artwork to the Keeney Cultural Center, 200 Main Street, Wethersfield, CT between 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. - 7 p.m. on Friday, June 16, 2006. Artwork should be framed with clips or wire for hanging, and be no wider than 36 inches. Sculptors should supply their own pedestals.
